Appearance Check
Inspect the machine for any visible damage, such as scratches, dents, or cracks, especially in the bucket and connection parts.
Look for signs of hydraulic oil, fuel, or lubrication oil leaks. Any leaks should be addressed immediately.
Fluid Level Check
Check the hydraulic oil, fuel, and engine oil levels to ensure they are within the normal range. If the levels are low, add the appropriate fluids.
Check the coolant level to prevent engine overheating.
Tire Check
Check the tire pressure and ensure the tire surface is free of wear, cuts, or embedded debris. The tread depth should be sufficient for good traction.
Electrical System Check
Inspect the battery connections to ensure they are secure. If using a maintenance-free battery, check the electrolyte level.
Ensure that lights, horns, and other electrical equipment are working properly.
Replace Filters
Regularly replace the fuel filter, oil filter, and air filter to prevent dirt from entering the engine and hydraulic system, which can affect performance. Typically, filters should be replaced every 100-200 hours depending on operating conditions.
Change Lubricants
Follow the manufacturer's recommendations to change the engine oil and hydraulic oil, typically every 500-1000 hours of operation. When changing oil, also replace the oil pan gasket and seals to ensure proper sealing.
Check and Adjust Chains and Belts
Inspect the tension of drive chains and belts. Both loose and overly tight chains/belts can affect performance and lifespan. Adjust or replace as necessary.
Clean Radiator and Cooling System
Clean the radiator and cooling system regularly to prevent dust and debris from blocking airflow, ensuring effective engine cooling. You can use compressed air or low-pressure water to clean, but avoid damaging the radiator.
Preparation Before Storage
If the skid steer loader will be stored for an extended period, fill the fuel tank and add a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation.
Store the machine in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from moisture and corrosive environments.
This maintenance ensures that the skid steer loader operates efficiently and extends its lifespan.
